Leonid Chernovetskiy: thanks to Euro-2012 Kiev will be able to greatly improve the quality of life: in two years the city will receive what we would have to wait for another 5-7 years

The city has formed the list of streets in the 1.5 km area from Olimpiysky National Sports Complex that need repairs and replacement of road surface. 30 million UAH will be allocated for this purpose. Apart from this, 131 million UAH have been allocated to repair Gorkogo street.
Kiev’s Mayor Leonid Chernovetskiy noted that the city still has time to improve the infrastructure before Euro-2012. “The city-financed projects do not require a lot of time to be implemented, we will be able to complete everything on time. Main roads where football fans will be walking won’t be worse than those in Europe. Besides, the city will increase the number of land transport vehicles. In particular, it has been decided to purchase 300 modern trolleybuses and buses, which will be equipped with air conditioning and will have a low floor for physically disadvantaged people. These are the most important things for me because when the championship is over, good roads and transport will remain for city citizens. Thanks to EURO-2012 we will be able to greatly improve the quality of life: in two years the city will receive what we would have to wait for another 5-7 years,” he said.
