Auctions significantly saved budgetary funds and reduced the cost of maintaining the apparatus of officials.
On November 28, 2008 Irena Kilchitskaya held an auction, and residents of Kiev actively participated in it, about 80 participants were registered. We have sold nine cars with a total value of UAH 2,828,000. I myself bought "Chaika" of Vladimir Shcherbytsky for 1.5 million hryvnias. We also sold three 2007 Toyota Camrys, a 1998 Mercedes-Benz, a 1998 Toyota Land Cruiser, a 1991 Buick Park Avenue, and a GAZ-1402 (“Chaika”).
Another auction was held on February 20, 2009, where four cars were sold with a total value of 610,465 hryvnias, three cars of the Toyota Camry brand of 2007 of release. At the auction on March 19, 2009, two Toyota Camry cars of 2007 were sold for 238,700 hryvnias.
It was an interesting initiative, and I am glad that we managed to implement it. Maybe it is not a lot, but I can responsibly declare that as the Kyiv mayor at that time I did everything to reduce the cost of the apparatus of officials and spend the saved money on projects useful for Kyiv and its residents - for example, the construction of the Center for PET technologies.
