RIVER TRAM AND WATER

During the first year of operation of the river tram, it proved its effectiveness: about 14 thousand passengers were transported.

Implemented

On July 24, 2009, there was the ceremonial opening of the river tram in Kyiv. Its route went from Poshtova Square to Bereznyaki through the Dnepr metro station.

During the first year of its operation, the river tram proved its effectiveness: about 14,000 passengers were transported.

The project was more social than commercial. It made it possible to improve the transport connection of the territory of Navodnitsky Park with the Obolon residential area and, actually, with the city center - Podil, where the River Station is located.

The first run of the river tram departed from berth No. 10 of the River Station (Post Square) at 7:00; the full run took about 40 minutes. The ship departed from Bereznyakov at 7:40, and after 25–30 minutes it moored near the Dnepr metro station, at 8:20 it approached the pier of the River Station. In the evening the river tram departed from Poshtova Square to Bereznyakin at 18:00 and 19:20, and at 18:40 and at 20:00 it departed in the opposite direction.

Motor ships were designed for 200 passengers (seats); the runs were conducted only on weekdays, during morning and evening rush hours; in the morning there was one run in each direction, and in the evening there were two.

In the same summer, another river tram route was opened: Postal Square - Obolon (River Station - Obolonskaya Embankment - the one-way trip took about half an hour. There was absolutely no demand for morning trips on this route; in the evening on weekdays the ship departed from Podol to Obolon, on weekends the ship moved at intervals of 1 hour 20 minutes.

On July 1, 2010, we opened another "tram season" and launched the Riverest motor ship, designed for 120 passengers, on its first voyage. At the same time, a new station was opened - Navodnitsky Park (near the monument to the founders of Kyiv, between the Paton Bridge and the Metro Bridge). Motor ships departed from berth No. 7 of the River Port. They ran on weekdays along the following routes: Postal Square - Navodnitsky Park - Bereznyaki and Postal Square - Obolon. Trips were scheduled only during the evening rush hour.

In 2012, the river tram did not run in Kyiv.

There was also an idea to launch a water taxi in Kyiv.

On August 17, 2010, the first river taxi in Ukraine began to run along the Dnieper. Two boats carried passengers: a pontoon boat with ten seats and a motor yacht with six seats. The costs of purchasing a river taxi were borne by foreign investors. Taxis ran only during daylight hours. It was possible to call it by phone to any place within the water area of Kyiv, or to come to the base on the Obolon embankment or on Bereznyaki yourself. Taxi moored where the passengers wanted to

On September 13, 2010, the taxi stopped working due to the end of the season and did not resume the next season.

Of course, it is a pity that these ideas do not continue to work, perhaps it is not the time yet ... Perhaps, an investor who can adequately and stably organize the work of this type of transport has not yet been found. Perhaps there were some other reasons.
