FERRIS WHEEL

“From the outside, it will seem that people are just floating on air,” said the author of the project, architect Valery Shevchenko.

The project was not implemented due to technical reasons

At first it was planned to build it in the Mariinsky Park, but due to the threat of landslides, the idea was abandoned. We also considered locations at Postal Square, in Navodnitsky Park, not far from Askold's grave or next to the arch of Friendship of Peoples.

A construction order was signed, and an investor was found.

The contractor authority for the installation and operation of the “facility for viewing the urban landscape” was to be the Kyivzelenstroy CO.

The idea of creating a tourist cable car network over the capital was also considered. The sketch was ready.

It was planned to build four cable roads connecting the 250-meter-high tower in Khreshchaty Park with cable car stations, which supposed to be located at Vladimirskaya Gorka, Square of Europe, in Mariinsky Park and on the left bank. According to the project, it was supposed that there would be transparent cabins designed for 24 people. Fiberglass cables would also be made transparent, and the cabins would move on them with 4 m / s speed.

The first stop along the route of the cable road was the Square of Europe, then Vladimirskaya Gorka, Mariinsky Park and Trukhanov Island. There could be a restaurant and an observation deck built on the tower, and there would be a cultural center below.

The cost of the project was about 200 million dollars, but we planned to find investors for the construction, who would then take a transportation fee. We would regulate the cost so that it would be affordable for the residents of Kiev.
